De Sarva Hamlet

Complete tranquility for a holiday, semi retirement or full retirement

De Sarva

ECC endorsed site located close to Alcains town and 20 minutes to Castelo Branco it is so quiet, tranquil and serene far away from the hustle and bustle.
English family owned and run, friendly, small, exclusive, gated site, surrounded by farmland on the edge of a quaint Portuguese village but just minutes away from local town and large city. The Portuguese people here are extremely warm, friendly and welcoming. The local area has wonderful walks to explore, with a gorgeous lake side beach located nearby and a country club with very good restaurant within walking distance.
In the village ferias (local fairs) are held 3 or 4 times a year, there is also a doctors, chemist, post office, school, ATM and plenty of bars and cafes. The next town is 5 kms away and has a weekly farmers market , several larger ferias a year, a diverse range of shops, banks , a major supermarket, dentists, heath centre, vets etc and then within 20 minutes drive is a major city with everything you could possibly want and plenty of shopping malls.
Locally within 5 kms there is fishing including giant carp, a
country park, horseriding, flying club, rifle club, skiing, mountain climbing is 45 minutes and Spain is only 60 kms away. Culturally we are close to museums and historic castles and villages. The roads are easy to drive with very little traffic, it really is a fantastic relaxing lifestyle in the sun.
The park is within easy driving distance to Bilbao & Santander (regular sailings to and from UK) we are under 2 hours from Lisbon airport with many uk flights. Lisbon is easily reached (as is the rest of Portugal) by a fast and reliable train and coach services with stops~stations nearby, coach route passes entrance gates. Salamanca in Spain is less than 2 hours and the Spanish capital of Madrid only 4 hours.
The village which is a few minutes walk, is set out with the church or igreja in the centre, there are two village shops, a cash machine, post office, doctors, chemists and park.
However we also have a bread woman who calls with delicious fresh breads and many other local suppliers call also with fresh produce.

Alcains is lovely to have a tootle about not overly large there is a large selection of places to eat and a great selection of cafes - Friday and Saturday nights there is always a bit of a party atmosphere, Alcains also has quite a few fairs and celebrations where everyone is welcomed

Portugal are well known for their wine, beers and spirits and well it must be said most seem to live to a very old age.
To give you an idea of prices
1 litre of beer/ cerveja is 89 cents in supermarkets.
Wine/vinha ranges from 1 euro upwards per litre, they come in lovely whites/branco, rose with a bottle of mateus coming in at around 3.50 euros around  but there are plenty of other delicious Portuguese vineyards to try too, and finally the delicious full bodied reds/tintos similarly priced to the whites. In some villages it is known as Preta or black wine however be careful one glass only as home brewed Preta is very very strong..............
A very good bottle of sherry will set you back approx 3.5 euros approximately. Port is about the same or slightly cheaper.
Most spirits including Gin and whiskey is around 8 euros and upwards  and thats for a fullsized bottle. Own brand mixers are cheap too with schweppes a wee bit more pricey.
You will have your own lemon tree to produce your slice freshly picked, all citrus especially lemons do exceptionally well here due to the area's beautiful micro climate.
